There are two universities that offer undergraduate and graduate degrees in the state of Missouri that have been designated by the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (ACEJMC). The most recognized school of the two is the University of Missouri, which offers a Bachelor's degree and Master's degree in Journalism.

Southeast Missouri State University provides an undergraduate alternative with the Bachelor of Science in Mass Communication.
